Adams Park Cross Country Ski Outing
MVG Outing: February 13th, 2010
(Please read this notice carefully for specific instructions that are different from other outings posts you may have read).
Adams Park is a Nature Center in South Dakota that maintains groomed cross country ski trails for use by the public. Ski rentals are available at the park for $5.00 per day. Ms. Renee Begnoche, a talented nature photographer, has agreed to co-lead this outing with Bob Goetschkes. She will reserve and pick up cross country ski equipment for you, if needed and if contacted before February 8th at begturtle@yahoo.com . X-C equipment can also be rented at the Outdoor Venture Center, HYPER Building, on the UNO Campus: www.unomaha.edu/-wwwocr~ and unoovc@mail.unomaha.edu , and Canfield’s Sporting Goods.
This outing is open to all skill levels. There are two basic loops: River Loop-6 miles, and Lake Loop-4.7 miles. As this is not a back country activity, we are free to do as much or as little as we’d like. Dress for current weather conditions by wearing layered clothing, gloves, and a hat. Bring a sack lunch and two liters of water to eat on the trail. More information about the Adams Park can be found at http://www.sdgfp.info/Parks/Regions/Heartland/AdamsHomestead.htm
Carpoolers can meet at Wohlner’s Grocery Store across from Stinson Park in the new Aksarben Village just east of 72nd and Center, south of the UNO campus, by 08:00 A.M. (There can a charge if you choose to carpool with others). Plan to be back in Omaha between 5:00 and 5:30 P.M.
Please RSVP to bobbygoetschkes@hotmail.com or 402-614-4788 with your name, phone number, and email address. It is requested that a $1 donation be made to the Outings Program in order to support the ongoing training of Outings Leaders.
