26 Mile round trip ride along the Oak Creek Trail between Valparaiso and Brainard, NE. This former Union Pacific rail winds its way through wooded, rolling hills and offers “highland” vistas along the way.(Note: NRD has closed Steamboat Trace until further notice due to flooding. OCT is billed as their “All Season Trail”).

Sunday July 11th, 2010. We will leave Wohlner’s Grocery Store, Stinson Park, 72nd and Center, at 8:30 A.M. sharp. The drive to the trailhead will take about 1.5 hours. I will have a van with a bike hitch for any who need to carpool. I can loan you a trunk rack if you’ve no way to transport your bike. I have one extra medium sized mountain bike for anyone who needs one to borrow. Although I am familiar with the basics of bike mechanics, please bring your own flat repair kit, sparetube, and tools. I will bring a pump for any last minute tire issues. Lunch in Brainard after 13 miles, then we return by the same route. There is a Club Outing fee of $1.00 per person to support the continued training of Outings Leaders.
Dress for the current weather conditions and possible weather changes that day.
Wear layered clothing and bring a wind shell, rain gear, hat,two liters of water, and a lunch. As this is a crushed limestone trail, mountain bikes or Hybrid Style Bikes with wider tires are a must. There are restrooms at the trail head and halfway in Loma, NE.
Please RSVP to Bob Goetschkes, bobbygoetschkes@hotmail.com or 402-614-4788 (Home) or 402-326-1775 (Cell) with your email and cell phone number in case of last minute changes or cancellation.
